Throughout his life he collaborated with National Museum and Prague ZOO. He is the author of some of the first Czech films of natural science and travelogues that he shot for example in Iceland or Africa. His beautiful pictures of animals and plants were published in many magazines and later in a form of books that he created with the help of his wife Lída. Beautiful school poster with the description of the fish commonly known as "angelfish" from the series of educative posters approved by the Ministry of education in 1945 as the teaching aids suitable for all kinds of elementary and high schools. The text with the description of the animal is illustrated by black and white picture by a great Czech zoologist and photographer Václav Jan Staňek, who is also the author of many books and one of our first film documentaries of natural science. His photographs with their esthetic qualities definitely go beyond a simply educational purpose.
