Wooden dining chair made by renowned Czech functionalist designer Jindřich Halabala in the 1940s for UP Závody Rousínov. Halabala was a cabinetmaker by trade before studying at the Academy of Arts, Architecture, and Design in Prague under Professor Pavel Janák. Halabala was the head designer for UP Závody from 1925 to 1955. His furniture features characteristic rounded contours and a clean functionalist style. The chair’s backrest is covered with a walnut veneer, and the seat is upholstered with a velvet fabric in a floral pattern. The chair is in excellent original condition, with only minor scratches. We also have a dining table available from the same series designed by Jindřich Halabala.
