A long woolen kilim runner probably manufactured in the fifties. The modernist pattern immediately evokes Antonín Kybal, a Czech textile designer and the founder of the Kybal's Textile School at Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. Kybal was a great influencer and the works of his students are often indistinguishable from those of his own, this rug could therefore be made by some of them. Kilim (in Czech they are usually called Kelim) are flat woven woolen rugs originally made by nomadic nations but due to popularity in Western culture in twentieth century they started to be also mass produced. The rug has a simple geometric design with bright coloured areas with "blurred" outlines, typical for this type of woving. On our website there also are smaller, matching rugs from the same series.
