Karel Volf
(* 1932)
Important Czech glass designer, who started his studies atthe Secondary School of Glassmaking in Nový Bor, where learned from Josef Hospodka and Stanislav Libenský later on he continued studying at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague in the studio of professor Josef Kaplický. From 1959 to 1990 he was employed in the Development department of the state glass-making company in Valašské Meziříčí. During the late 1960s and 1970s his work focused on the technology called triplex - opal. From his realizations in architecture we can mention the interior lighting in Kinský chateau in Valašské Meziříčí or ceremonial halls in Zubří and Vsetín.
