A glass lamp called Pawn designed by the Czech designer Ivan Jakeš. He worked for many years for the national enterprise Osvětlovací sklo in the Czech town Valašské Meziříčí. He produced some significant designs while working for this company, but his chess pieces designed in 1970 are probably his most famous work. While the white being the classic colour for them, they were also produced in many bright colours and were exported abroad. The Pawn lamp is made of two layers of ocher coloured opaque glass, when lit the upper part glows with pleasantly warm light. The lamp is fully functional, in a good original condition.
