A white porcelain figurine of a mare designed by the leading Czech porcelain designer Jaroslav Ježek. The figurine was designed together with two other figurines of horses especially for the EXPO 1958 exhibition in Brussels. Ježek's collection of porcelain sculptures won the prestigious gold medal here. The horse figurines are said to have been created secretly during the production of the Elka porcelain set with which Ježek also competed at the exhibition and the horse figurines were smuggled with it. His success started a wider production of small stylized animals in Czechoslovakia. This is an original figurine from the sixties, at the bottom of it is the mark of the manufacturer ROYAL DUX. The figurine is in an excellent condition, without any damage.
