Modular sideboard created by Czech designer František Mezulánik in the 1960s for the company UP Závody. Spojené Uměleckoprůmyslové Závody was a renowned Czechoslovak furniture manufacturer and retailer, and František Mezulánik’s designs for them were known for their simplicity, delicate lines, and combination of varying shades of wood.
This modular sideboard is covered with a mahogany veneer with a reddish finish. The left side has four drawers with solid beech pulls in a dark finish. The cabinet space in the righthand side of the sideboard is divided by wide shelves, and the doors have magnets to help hold them closed. The sideboard sits on a removable wooden base with narrow legs which is made from solid beech and has a very dark finish. The sideboard has not been refurbished, but it is in excellent condition.
