The name of ironworks Rowac is made of first letters of the name of company's founder Robert Wagner. The firm was located in th German city Chemnitz and was founded in 1888 and lasted until 1948. Rowac products were admired for their functional and progressive designs that provided both healthy quality of seating and great firmness. The founder of Bauhaus Walter Grophius respected Wagner's furniture so much that he had all the workshops furnished with Wagner products. The first Rowac chair was manufactured in 1905 and had only three legs, this four-legged model was from later production. The metla base is made of iron, the seat and backrest are made of bent plywood. The chair is in a great condition, ready to serve for another hundred years.
