A footstool created by Jan Vaněk most likely sometime in the 1940s. Vaněk was a designer, furniture manufacturer, architect, and co-founder of the company Spojené Uměleckoprůmyslové Závody. He worked with important architects of his era such as Jan Kotěra and Josef Gočár. Among many other projects, he contributed to the furnishings of the functionalist Villa Tugendhat in Brno. His furniture is characterized by its clean lines and timeless design. This footstool is made of solid walnut, which has been completely refinished in our workshop. The original straps have also been replaced with new ones. The piece can be used as a footstool or a seat.
