This famous coffee table called spider was designed in the fifties by the Czech designer Jindřich Halabala for the national enterprise Spojené uměleckoprůmyslové závody Brno (UP Brno), it was produced as type H-259. Jindřich Halabala worked for Up Brno as a chief architect for thirty years, from 1925 to 1955. Halabala was originally a joiner and later studied at Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague in the studio of the Czech architect Pavel Janák, there he probably gained the love for functionalist purity of form. His furniture is known for its rounded shapes and quality craftsmanship. The table is made of solid wood and the table top is veneered with a distinctively rendered veneer. The table has been completely renovated in our workshop.
