His design of U-450 series became an iconic product of this company, a design he himself built upon several times after. Jiroutek studied high school in Chrudim and later graduated in interior design at Prague's Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design. At Interier Praha he worked since 1951, during 1958 to 1968 he lead team of forms development. As a public person, Jiroutek always shows distinctive respect towards his craft. He also worked for Swedish furniture giant IKEA. He currently lives in Prague.
Nanovo manufactures new furniture following the original 1950s-1960s design plans. This is one of the first designs that we have started producing together with its designer. Newly created U-452 cabinet follows the original design of Jiří Jiroutek from 1958. This timeless piece is completely made by hand in the Czech Republic. Made out of spruce solid wood with oak veneer in semi-mart varnish. Sliding doors are made from plywood with glossy varnish. Jiroutek designed the U-452 cabinet in 1958 when he was just 30 years old. It differed from all other production through it's smart details, shapes and modern colors (pink-gray combination). Also - mainly - it was available for wide public. Lower production costs allowed Jiroutek to focus on true design details. This cabinet became so successful that it was produced for over 20 years! Together with Mr. Jiroutek we have renewed the production exactly 60 years after its first design was released. Delivery estimate: 6-7 weeks from the date of order First series: 100 pieces.
