A modernist flat woven rug from the fifties, the authorship is attributed to Antonín Kybal. Kybal was a Czech textile artist, the founder of the Kybal's Textile School at Academz of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague and a leading figure in the modern Czech textile art. The large-sized rug has a simple geometric pattern set in primary colours. Geometric patterns were typical for Kybal's work in the fifties, the technique derives from traditional nomadic carpets Kilim that became very popular in the twentieth century. The rug has some spots on it, all of them are visible in the photographs.
