Glass statue
Code: 2011047AProduct detailed description
Glass sculpture called “The Queen” designed by sculptor and ceramicist Ivan Jakeš in the 1960s. Jakeš worked for many years as a designer for the national enterprise Osvětlovací Sklo in Valašské Meziříčí, where he created hundreds of designs that are characteristic in their simplicity and clean lines. His lamps based on chess pieces from the 1970s are among his most well-known designs, but this predecessor to those works is a simple sculpture made from two-layer, opaque, white glass in the shape of a queen chess piece.
