Fritz Hansen Chair
Code: 2601002Product detailed description
The famous Series 7™ chair (model 3107) was designed by Danish designer Arne Jacobsen in 1955 exclusively for the Fritz Hansen brand. Jacobsen is renowned as a functionalist architect and a leading figure of Danish modernism. With over 5 million units sold, it soon became the brand's best-selling model, as well as an icon of 20th-century modern furniture. It builds upon and introduces variations to the earlier Ant™ model, drawing on experiments with three-dimensional pressure-molded plywood technology invented by Ray and Charles Eames. Its smoothly curved silhouette and ergonomic shape make it a timeless interior piece, perfectly suited for homes, offices, and public spaces alike.
The chair is still manufactured today in a variety of color finishes. This particular piece was produced in 2009 from thin ash plywood, stained in a matte black finish. The seat is supported by a crossed chrome-plated metal frame and four slender legs. The wood features a prominent grain that helps conceal the minor scratches and dings visible in the photographs. The chair is in very good condition following a partial restoration in our workshop.
