Porcelain Folk Vase
Code: 2502010Product detailed description
This small hexagonal vase from the 1920s comes from the Lidová Malírna workshop in Telč. It was founded in 1908, originally as a school for painting on ceramics and porcelain. The designs were inspired by motifs from Czech and Moravian folk culture, and after the end of the First World War, Slovak folk culture as well. The workshop was also progressive in that it employed women as early as the beginning of the 20th century. They mainly decorated ceramics, but also porcelain and glass, and the products were shipped all over the world, including America and Australia.
The porcelain vase is decorated with alternating gilded sides with small floral ornaments and sides painted with colourful folk flowers on a black background. The bottom of the vase bears the typical symbol of the painting workshop – a folk apple with the letter ‘T’ in a frame.
The vase is in perfect original condition.
