Detailed information

Product detailed description

A pendant lamp from the 1970s produced by the national enterprise Osvětlovací Sklo in the town of Valašské Meziříčí. The lamp was designed by Czech designer, sculptor, and ceramist Ivan Jakeš, who is most associated with the design of glass lamps in the shape of chess pieces. The glassworks in Valašské Meziříčí was once the main factory of S. Reich & Co., the largest manufacturer of lighting glass in Austria-Hungary.
The shade of the lamp is made of opaque, white, layered triplex opal glass – a material that creates a pleasant, diffuse light thanks to its triple refraction. The glass has a crack on the top which is glued together. The damage is visible in the photos. The pendant lamp hangs from a metal rod which has been painted grey. It takes one size E27 bulb.
