Therapeutic toy "Goose"
Code: 2506000Product detailed description
This extraordinary goose was designed by the exceptional German artist Renate Müller in 1969 as part of a collection of toys for disabled children created for the German bear manufacturer Josef H. Levene.
The iconic animals made of coarse jute and coloured leather are designed to also serve as rehabilitation aids. The material, shape and leather handles make them ideal for children with less developed fine motor skills, helping to exercise them.
Renate Müller also designed a number of playgrounds and interiors for kindergartens, hospitals, playrooms and the toy museum in Sonneberg. Influenced by the Bauhaus, she sought simplicity and natural materials in her designs.
Today, Müller is an icon in design for children, and her toys are highly sought after for their unique style and rarity. You may also be familiar with other toys such as the rhinoceros, elephant or seal.
Our goose has a wooden base and a sturdy body made of coarse jute, which is decorated with dark blue and red quilted leather elements. It is in very good original condition; however, the jute is slightly rubbed and stained in places.
