Detailed information

Product detailed description

Type 1042 armchair designed in 1978 by Antonín Šuman for the state-owned company TON. Šuman became famous for his bentwood designs, having created a total of more than 650 models of seating furniture. He won numerous awards at international exhibitions and trade fairs, and his designs were featured, for example, at the 12th Milan Triennale and at EXPO 67 in Montreal. He also contributed to the interiors of Prague’s Palace of Culture and the National Theater.

The armchair has a frame made of bent beech wood stained a light brown shade with a matte finish. The seat retains its original upholstery. The frame is in its original condition and slightly wobbly, with visible signs of use.
