Vitra Lobby Office Chair
Code: 2601017Product detailed description
The famous ES 104 office chair, otherwise known as the Time-Life Lobby Chair, was designed in 1961 for the American company Herman Miller by the prominent husband-and-wife design duo, Charles and Ray Eames. The Eameses boldly experimented with new and unconventional materials in furniture design, architecture, as well as photography. Their molded plywood furniture has become truly legendary. The chair was originally designed specifically for the lobby of the newly built Time-Life Building skyscraper in New York, which is how it acquired its popular name.
This specific chair was manufactured in 1984 according to the original design by the Swiss company Vitra, which holds the exclusive license to produce Eames furniture for the European market. The chair features a chromed aluminum structure consisting of a five-star base with casters and side frames that hold together three separate cushions upholstered in high-quality black leather with button tufting. The chair is exceptionally comfortable, features adjustable height, and has a tilt mechanism. It is in very good original condition. The armrests show a visible patina, and the leather is slightly scratched and scuffed in places. The chrome structure also bears minor scratches in some areas.
